Del the Funky Homosapian's I Wish My Brother George Was Here Album Anniversary
Born in Oakland, California, he is the cousin of seminal West Coast rapper Ice Cube and began his career writing lyrics for Ice Cube's group Da Lench Mob. In 1991, with the help of Ice Cube, Del released his first solo album, I Wish My Brother George Was Here, at the age of 18. The album was a commercial success largely due to the popularity of the hit single "Mistadobalina". Ultimately Del, who was not pleased with the limited musical range of the album, severed his production-artist relationship with Ice Cube for his next album, No Need for Alarm.
Black Sheep's Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Album Anniversary
Black Sheep became part of music's hip-hop landscape in 1991 with the release of their debut album, A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, whose single "Flavor of the Month" sealed the duo's popularity. At the time of their debut, Black Sheep were one of many New York City-based hip-hop and rap groups attracting national attention; Cypress Hill, Naughty By Nature, Brand Nubian, and L.O.N.S. had all paved the way for Black Sheep's appearance.
The Firm's Album Anniversary
The Album is the only studio album by American hip hop group The Firm. It was released on October 21, 1997 by Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. The project was created by rapper Nas, his manager Steve Stoute and producers Dr. Dre and Trackmasters, who came up with the idea of forming a hip hop supergroup. In the United States, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
