Fresh Artist Fridays: Malary

Boston based rapper Malary is someone you need on your playlist now. His half-rap, half-singing style is perfect for some late night listening, guaranteed to provide some unique R&B. Malary’s latest single, Lessons, showcases growth in both his art and his personal life. He raps about a relationship he is moving past, taking the lessons he got from it and applying it to his future, “Feeling like a dream I can’t fulfill. Guess I learned my lesson”. The song’s lush and energetic beat carry the lyrics through, keeping you locked in to every word Malary has to say. While the song’s subject of a failed relationship can quickly turn sour, Malary makes the best of the situtation, rapping, “So if you really feel me girl just let me know. I’m moving on to better things watch how I grow”. Malary makes it clear - nothing is holding him back and it is only up from here for him.

MALARY ARTIST BIO:

Malary is described as someone “mostly heard and rarely seen.” A Boston-native, Malary grew up listening to the classics and modern rap and watching his older brother sample both genres for his own beats. As Malary grew up, he was drawn to the ins and outs of the music industry, picking up skills like playing the piano and learning audio engineering.

To the world, Malary is elusive. However, his flows and vibe are confident. Inspired by J. Cole, Nas, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Kendrick Lamar, Malary hopes fans appreciate the old and the new in his latest rap/R&B project — All Alone. “Music is oxygen,” Malary believes. “It’s necessary for life.” - Namu Sampath
